Engine & Environmental Control Systems (EECS) provides complete jet engine controls and accessory packages. From the fuel tank to the igniters, we have the resources and expertise to design, qualify, and manufacture first in class central systems for our aerospace engine customers.

EECS is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team.

Role Overview:
Project Engineer Electrical, Engine Controls for the Pratt & Whitney PurePower family of engines. The candidate will be responsible for working with internal & external customers to ensure timely completion of program milestones.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead an integrated product team(IPT) consisting of design, operations support, quality, software, and reliability engineering to accomplish the following goals:
  • Manage Total Manufacturing Cost (TMC) for product and lead cost reduction initiates on component and/or fuel metering product line.
  • Provide staffing plans through the use of the UTAS Manpower Planning Tool (TIGER), including detailed plans through all disciplines and an outsourcing plan, also by discipline, which meet project milestones and budget.
  • Drive and implement Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA) processes, through the use of the applicable ACE tools to ultimately facilitate design integrity improvements and enhanced Engineering Standard Work (ESW) practices.
  • Coordinate the management and closure of all supplier interfacing related activities including fabrication processing issues, Flight Safety Frozen Process Review Board deliverables and dispositions to supplier Quality Notices (QNs) and requests for information (SRIs).
  • Coordinating all UTAS Engineering Change (EC) activities for all drawings & solid models.
  • Drive project execution of technical requirements to budget and schedule through implementation of the Program Management System Standard (PMSS) and the IPD Team process.
  • Drive and implement Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA) processes, through the use of the applicable ACE tools to ultimately facilitate design integrity improvements and enhanced Engineering Standard Work (ESW) practices.
  • Coordinate activities with UTAS Supply Chain Management and the UTAS Electronics Operations team to meet Production yield targets.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering
  • 3-10 years of relevant experience in working in Control Systems or Components for Engine Control Systems and/or similar electro-mechanical products.
  • Candidate should have a basic working knowledge of control systems and electronic engine controls
  • Must have the ability to apply electronic principals to analyze hardware, recommend corrective action, conduct engineering investigations and develop/conduct tests.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process for electronic circuit card assemblies is desired.
  • Good oral and written skills are necessary along with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience in working and leading product development teams, creating project plans, performing risk assessments, and working resource plans necessary for successful program execution.

  • Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Masters degree in Engineering or Management desirable.
