Position:

Do you want to be part of an exciting team who is changing the way we work across UTC?  Our team plays an integral role is delivering solutions for UTC Operations. We have three focal areas; Supply Management & Compliance, Quality Systems and Smart Factory (Industry 4.0). The Business Intelligence Architect will be the BI lead within the Global Business Systems Operations organization and will be an integral part of delivering on our overall mission.   It combines foundational IT knowledge with new digital technologies to make our internal BI tools more efficient, productive and seamless.

This individual with be highly motivated and passionate individual with primary responsibility for driving key digital initiatives.  They will routinely perform as a cross-functional team member and lead, to define requirements, identify and recommend solutions to complex problems and enhancements. A goal-focused, team player able to manage local and off-shore teams.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in database & reporting systems. They will be expected to work with the source data warehousing team and the in-house data visualization community to deliver projects & enhancements driving business value. Ease of use & maintainability will be enabled by following industry standards for development & maintenance. Data & business analysis skills will help support non-technical operations team members in communication with leadership & business unites. The individual will need knowledge of software development lifecycle principles, agile project management, & scheduling systems to properly manage complexity over time. Aerospace & Machine Learning / Artifical Intelligence knowledge is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with business and technology teams to define system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of users acceptance. Analyzes existing system logic to assess alignment with business unit or corporate needs.
  • Develop and maintain project plans and functional specifications for IT management and developers. Provide project status reporting, keeping management informed as project progress and priorities change.
  • Identify and propose system improvements and efficiency opportunities, including best practices, tool sets and features. Ensure continuous improvement practices and opportunities are optimized.
  • Lead system testing and establish system techniques and controls.
  • Research and resolve application issues, working closely with business users and technical resources.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional project teams. Collaborates with application development teams to analyze system functionality issues.
  • Follow required software development life cycle principals.
  • Communicate effectively via written, verbal and presentation mediums.

Required experience and skills:

  • Database Design, Information Management, and/or Data Warehouse   Architecture.
  • Data Visualization, creating dahsboards and reporting with Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI or other tools.
  • Data Analysis, Version Control, Task Scheduling, Software Development and Business Analysis.
  • Microsoft SQL Server & SQL Server Management Studio
  • Microsoft Azure DevOps Services
  • SQL and database concepts
  • Tidal Workload Automation Enterprise Scheduler
  • Experience and knowledge of IT policies and procedures.
  • Project management experience with leading medium to large scale projects.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodology.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, quality and supply chain concepts
  • Familiarity with the Aerospace business/industry/sector.
  • Familiarity with Predictive Analytics and/or Machine Learning.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience
  • Master’s Degree with 5+ years of experience

Status:

US Citizen or US Person required.

Work could involve ITAR-regulated projects.
