Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world’s most advanced commercial and military turbine engines, is seeking talented engineers to join our Compression Systems Engineering organization within Pratt & Whitney’s during the summer of 2019. Intern level engineers will be valuable members of an Integrated Product Team (IPT), made up of designers, structures engineers, project engineers, product modeling and drawing staff, and systems analysts. The IPT's are tasked with sustaining fielded engines through product deficiency investigations and developing product enhancements. The IPT's will also resolve manufacturing issues in the support of new engine development and production. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of disciplines within engineering. Individually, the intern level project engineer will be tasked with project management activities such as budget and schedule planning, IPT meeting coordination, project qualification or development testing, and hardware procurement coordination. The candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team, execute engineering standard work, and drive tasks to meet program milestones. This is a unique opportunity for an college graduate or emerging professional to work on the best, and most sophisticated engines in the world Level of responsibility includes: • Responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline • Makes contribution to the team through their knowledge • Works with moderate guidance on projects • Has solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and role • Providing shop, vendor, and test support as needed. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the design and executing to engineering standard work. • Provide structures analytical support for commercial or military programs, with responsibility for the durability and structural integrity of gas-turbine cold-section components. This includes performing a wide range of structural analyses using analytical tools such as ANSYS, summarizing results and presenting results in IPT meetings. Positions may be located in East Hartford or Middletown, CT, West Palm Beach FL, or Lansing, MI
Education / Certifications Candidates should be pursuing a BS or MS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0. and U.S. Citizenship is required
