United Technologies Research Centre Ireland, Ltd. (UTRCI) is UTRC's European research hub, created to fully leverage a global network of innovation. UTRCI works with universities, research institutions, and industry throughout Europe to further its research and development mission in aerospace and building systems.
The Power Electronics research group at UTRCI is looking for experienced candidates to apply for this position that will support the development and maintenance of laboratory infrastructure, and the implementation of key research project tasks.
Key Job Responsibilities
As Electrical Engineer, Power Electronics, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- execute critical project tasks to successfully achieve desired technical outcomes within time and budget constraints
- manage power electronics laboratory from perspective of safety (including high voltage), working practices, staff training, and quality;
- design, build/develop, and maintain laboratory equipment, test rigs, operating procedures and processes;
- setting-up and maintaining power electronics lab test equipment and test benches;
- develop and test hardware prototypes (power converters, machines, drives, PCBs etc.), implement and test control strategies, expand hardware-in-the-loop testing capabilities;
- interaction with external vendors / supply chain to achieve targeted, timely results;
- demonstrate excellent communication skills and provide timely, accurate reports and presentations to management and functional teams
The preferred candidate must have some years of experience in an applicable laboratory environment and a strong record of technical accomplishment. The candidate must have a track record of working with high voltage and a thorough understanding of the relevant safety requirements, including evidence of previous training. A working knowledge of the design and development of power electronics, machines, and drives is highly desirable. A background in a skilled electrical trade or equivalent qualification would be a significant advantage.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical of Electronic Engineering is required. A strong background in power electronics, machines, or drives is highly desirable.
