This position is for a Software Lead working on Rail project domain applications, including design, development and / or maintenance of Positive Train Control, SCADA, Dispatching, and Information management applications in support of Collins’ customers. This position is key and will be a senior member of the Rail Software Engineering organization.
- The role is a combination of technical leadership and oversight, hands-on coding, and coordinating, preparing, and presenting technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance for the software group on an assigned project.
- Organize SW team activities.
- Provide schedule support and task decomposition.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Project Manager and other discipline leads.
- Conduct activities professionally and in a forthright manner.
- Train junior engineers.
- Review code and triage issues.
- Support Department initiatives.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline preferred.
Seven (7) years of software engineering experience in progressively more challenging positions.
Software architecture and design skills.
Knowledge of at least two and an expert in at least one of the following:
Knowledge of relational databases of at least one of the following:
Basic project management skills.

Ability to collaborate and maintain professional conduct with peers, project team members, and management personnel.
Ability as a self-starter to coordinate team in solving skills.
