Primary Responsibility

  • Disassemble, test, repair and reassemble wire harnesses (PEEK, sleeve and open bundle) and small components (blocker doors, access doors, fire detectors, etc.).
    Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work on a wide variety of wire harnesses and small components.
    Research, read, interpret, follow and apply information/instructions from manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineering orders and drawings, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification.
  • Know and comply with Federal Aircraft Regulations (FAR).
  • Know and comply with Collins Aerospace and customer specifications as applied to aircraft component Return to Service tasks.
  • General mechanical ability to utilize hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and proactive in identifying and correcting potential safety hazards.
  • Participate in team problem solving.
  • Participate, support and implement Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. Wire Harness

Experience/Qualifications:

Education / Certification:

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent is required
  • If requested, candidates must successfully complete a hands-on mechanical screening to validate skill level.
  • May be required to pass annual certification test verifying ability to operate machinery, equipment, forklift, etc.
  • This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA regulations 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 years or more experience in mechanical, construction, production or similar environment using power tools and measuring instruments is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Any experience with production or repair of wire harnesses and or small mechanical / structural aircraft components is strongly desired.
  • Ability to disassemble, test, repair and reassemble PEEK, sleeve and open bundle wire harnesses.
  • Work with nickel, steel and copper overbraid materials and machines, chafe guards and PEEK material.
  • Wire lay-up and routing. Installation of DR, sleeving and boots.
  • Application of sealant.
  • Use of computerized identification machines, calibrated tools and an electrical analyzer.
  • Use of precision measuring equipment.
  • 0-3 years of successful aviation mechanic experience in one or more of the following: disassembly, reassembly, maintenance, repair/overhaul and installation of various aircraft components in a Military, Airline or MRO environment.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to the Foley, AL area -- All interview and relocation expenses are paid by the candidate. (Foley is located in south Alabama. Neighboring cities include Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Many employees live in Baldwin and Mobile Counties in Alabama and Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties in Florida.)
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, rotating shifts, and weekends as required to meet and exceed customer expectations. •
  • Must obtain Mechanic Inspector status within two (2) years of hire. (Mechanic inspectors perform condition inspections in addition to maintenance, repair and overhaul.) •
  • Strong and proficient mechanical aptitude and workmanship.
  • Work in a team environment. •
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • SAP experience preferred, but not required.A&P license strongly preferred but not required for this position.
